About Our School

Kilmyshall National School is a co-educational Catholic primary school, under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Ferns, situated in a picturesque rural setting of Co.Wexford about two miles from Bunclody. We currently have a permanent staff of seven teachers which includes five classroom teachers and two Special Education teachers.

The school ethos respects religious and cultural diversity as presented through its pupils.

Kilmyshall National School is a child-centred school where inclusiveness is promoted. We aim to enable all children to live happily as children.

The uniqueness of each child is celebrated and children are nurtured in all aspects of their lives - spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical - thus assisting all pupils to live full and useful lives as adults in society. We promote independence in their personal and learning ability from an early age.

School Building 2011

Refurbished and extended building 2015

Our original school building was built in 1970 consisting of three classrooms. In the mid 1980s another classroom was added and a school multi-purpose room. In 1998 a resource room was built.

In 2014 we began an extension and refurbishment project. The original school building was re-wired and a new fire and security system was installed.

In October 2014 we began building two state-of-the-art classrooms. They were completed in April 2015. During the summer of 2015 an extension was added to the school car-park.

A large portion of the funds for this project was provided by the local communities of Kilmyshall and Bunclody. We would like to sincerely thank all those who contributed in any way to our project.
