Celebrating 1916-2016

We were blessed with blue skies in Kilmyshall on March 15th as we joined every other National School in Ireland in raising the national flag to celebrate the centenary of 1916.

Mr. Finnerty opened the ceremony by welcoming all the children, parents, Grandparents and people from the locality.

Cathal and Leah played a beautiful rendition of "The Foggy Dew".

Mrs. Jordans class introduced the Proclamation signaturies.

Our two youngest pupils aided by Mr. Finnerty raised the flag as the church struck 12 midday.

Forógra na Poblachta 1916 was then read by Mr.Finnerty, Emma, Michael, Fr. Duffy and Kelly Lennon (Parents council representative).

Everyone then proudly stood and sang "Amhrán na bhFiann".

The children from Ms. Dunnes 5th and 6th class read our school's new Proclamation, which celebrates Ireland of 2016 and includes all the hopes and dreams of the children going forward.

To conclude the celebrations everyone was then invited to the playground at the back of the school where the children, staff and visitors all danced the "Walls of Limerick".
