Kilmyshall was overrun by witches, wizards and ghosts this week as Kilmyshall National School held their annual fancy dress day. The school decided to raise funds for the very worthy children’s charity Barnardos. Kilmyshall NS joined many schools from all over the country in dressing up on Friday 26th October and collecting money to donate to Barnardos.

As part of the Greenschools project the school offered prizes to the children who made an effort to make their own costume using recycled materials from home. Lots of effort went into all of the costumes and it was very difficult to choose the best ones. All of the children and staff of Kilmyshall NS had a “Witches’ Walk” around the community of Kilmyshall to show off their wonderful costumes. The children had a great day playing traditional Hallowe’en games and raised in excess of €200 for charity.

The school’s charity work will continue in the run up to Christmas with the Teamhope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The children and their families are busy making up shoeboxes of gifts for children in less fortunate countries.
