Transport Projects

posted 25 Feb 2014, 11:22 by Kilmyshall Ns   [ updated 26 Feb 2014, 09:19 ]

We have been working on the theme of Transport during January and February. Here are images of some of the work in our projects. We did art work of transport now and transport in the future. We surveyed adults on how they travelled to school and made a graph of the information. We looked at the traffic in Kilmyshall and at local road signage. We researched inventions in the area of transport. In science we examined how air is used in transport. We wrote poems about vehicles which we have uploaded separately. We also constructed viking long ships.

We are hoping to get our green flag for 'Transport' in the school year 2014-2015

Joyce Kelly is a scientist who visited our school today Nov. 15th. She showed us three experiments. The first thing she showed us was an insect's wing in a microscope. There were thousands of cells.
By Dylan Doyle

The second experiment was showing us the strongest and weakest points of a balloon. The balloon was weaker when she stretched it a lot. The balloon was stronger when she did not stretch it as much.
By Darragh Farrell

Joyce showed us that if you put bread soda into a bottle with vinegar and put a balloon on top, it will form a gas and blow up the balloon.

Dress Up At Kilmyshall
Everyone in school dressed up. Some people made their own costumes. We played games in the hall. We played Yukky Dip and then we dipped apples in chocolate. We played a flour game. We watched a film. We gave 2 euro each to charity.
By Matthew Tully.

Bird Feeders At Kilmyshall
We made bird feeders because birds find it hard to find food in the winter. So this is how you make one.
First you need a plastic bottle. Then you get a pen or a pencil and poke holes in it. You put a pencil through two of the holes as a perch. Then you put some nuts in it. Next tie on a string to hang it.
